Icecast Server Setup

   

This tutorial will guide you through the setup of your Icecast or Shoutcast server account using Nullsoft Winamp and Oddsock's Oddcast_DSP Plugin. We assume you have downloaded and installed both of these to begin with.

To enable MP3 and AAC encoding you will need to place some extra files in your winamp directory. See our member_centre for details.

1.Start up winamp and choose options, preferences(or press Ctrl and P at the same time) .

   

2. In the left panel of the dialog click DSP/Effect and in thr right choose Oddcast DSP. Once you have clicked the Oddcast dialog will appear .
   

3. In the encoder settings double click the default encoder or click add encoder to make another one.The configuration box will appear. Place in there the details for your account.

If you are using Icecast be sure to place in your mount point and choose Icecast2 server. If you are using Shoutcast you don't have a mount point and choose Icecast server type. Click Ok and Connect to test your stream.

If it doesn't connect please check your settings or contact support.

4. With your stram working ok now you can set ut the metadata. Metadata is extra information, like song names, sent along with your stream. To get this infomation from winamp click edit. In the metadata dialog tick grab metadata from window.

Click find window. In the dialog that appears, find the winamp v1.x line, click OK, OK.

Your song names will now be sent to the Icecast or Shoucast server.

5. Double click again on your encoder in the encoder settings panel. Choose YP settings. These settings are the public Information you want displayed on the Icecast_stream_directory.

Now whatever music you play with the Winamp player will be broadcast via your Icecast or Shoutcast server.
You can view the status of your streams by browsing to http://<replace with server IP>:<replace with port>
For example: http://123.456.78.9:8000
